Family
These are the Tamil words for the people in your family: parents, brothers and sisters, children, husband and wife, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and in-laws. Tamil has more family words than English, because it has a different word for an older and a younger brother or sister, and for aunts and uncles on your mother's and your father's side. In Tamil you usually call a relative by one of these words, not by their name. A tip for remembering them: learn the words for the people you will meet first, and say each word aloud while you picture that person's face.
